Non-binding EC guidelines on environmental inspections

Guidelines on how EC countries should organise environmental inspections of industrial facilities have been proposed by the European Commission. They mark a retreat from its earlier plan for mandatory inspection requirements. The proposal is aimed mainly at levelling up inspection standards to current best practice, but would require changes in practice in the UK - including greater openness about inspection plans and reports.
