Tradable permits mooted to fund recovery of waste electrical goods

Environmental consultancy ERM is conducting a study for the European Commission on the use of tradable certificates to fund the recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The move is causing concern among British producers and recyclers who fear that such a system could prove as bureaucratic and confusing as that set up to fund recovery of packaging waste in the UK.
