Energy tax, emissions trading debate hots up

Major energy users are stepping up their demands on the Chancellor to give them substantial concessions on his proposed climate change levy - and some are warning that UK plants and jobs will otherwise go overseas. Meanwhile, the number of sectors now in talks with the Government on voluntary energy efficiency agreements has shot up to almost thirty. And it is also clear that Ministers envisage a much bigger role for emissions trading than suggested at the time of the Budget.
