Major firms begin projecton greenhouse gas trading
Two dozen major energy producers and users have joined to begin design work on an emissions trading scheme for greenhouse gases. The project is being backed by the Government, but appears to have no hope of dissuading it from introducing the proposed climate change levy in 2001. However, an industry trading scheme may eventually be linked with emissions trading which forms part of the Government's plans for the levy.
