National packaging recovery target slips further out of reach
The latest forecasts of packaging recovery in 2001 predict that the UK will fall short of its 50% recovery target by an even bigger margin than predicted last year, with recovery expected to reach just 40%. An expected shortage of packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs) in 2000 and 2001, fuelled by a lack of household collection schemes, could make it impossible for companies to meet their obligations under the regulations.
