UK forestry standard set to boost FSC logo

A major increase in the number of timber products in the UK bearing the logo of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is likely by early next year following the development of the UK Woodland Assurance Scheme (UKWAS), a forest management standard acceptable to forest owners and environmental groups. However, the Timber Growers Association wants to use the standard to develop an alternative logo - something retailers believe will simply confuse consumers.
