Leakage leads to over-abstraction fine

A company operating a Cumbrian holiday village was prosecuted in June for taking more water than permitted by its abstraction licence from a borehole supply. Oasis Villages was fined £3,500 and ordered to pay £4,208 in costs by Penrith magistrates after meter readings showed it over-abstracted by more than 28% last year.
