DTI wins tussle to keep on-pack green claims code voluntary

The Department of Trade and Industry has won - at least for now - its tussle with the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions to keep the Government's green claims code on a voluntary basis. Interpretation of the scope of existing regulations on misleading advertisements will be broadened to include on-pack claims, according to the DTI's consumer White Paper issued in July. 1 The paper also contains proposals to encourage trade bodies to strengthen codes of practice.
