Audit Committee keeps up pressure on "greening Government"
Signs of progress in the "greening Government" initiative have been detected by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee. But serious deficiencies remain, especially in most Departments' continuing failure to carry out environmental appraisals of major policies and in the mismatch between Government demands on the private sector and its own performance on environmental appraisal and reporting. 1
