Commission seeks introduction of US Energy Star label in EC

The US Energy Star labelling scheme would be opened to EC producers of office equipment and run jointly by US and EC officials under a proposal issued by the European Commission on 1 July. 1 The agreement would give the Commission a say in the development of energy efficiency criteria, but northern Member States will be disappointed that the scheme will compete with the existing energy label run by the Group for Efficient Appliances.
