Producer responsibility retained for household electronic waste

Provisions requiring producers to bear the costs for collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of domestic waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) have been retained in the latest draft of a proposed EC Directive. Proposals for a phase-out of hazardous substances have also been retained, although extra exemptions have been included.
