National Grid fined for damage to wildlife site

National Grid has become the first major company to be prosecuted for damaging a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The company was fined £1,500 after it admitted damaging a strip of shingle grassland at Dungeness, Kent, while erecting a security fence.
