£220,000 fine for "cynical disregard" of pesticide legislation

A farmer who admitted eleven breaches of pesticide safety regulations was fined £220,000 in August - easily the largest fine ever imposed under the legislation. The flagrant breaches of rules designed to protect workers and the public are likely to embarrass three major supermarket chains who received produce from the farm.
