Councils get more complaints about pollution and nuisances

Public complaints about air pollution, noise and most other environmental nuisances increased in England and Wales during 1997/98, according to the annual report of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. 1 The year saw little sign of increased local authority interest in obtaining certification to environmental management standards or development of local Agenda 21 policies.
