Measuring corporate progress towards sustainability

More than 80% of executives questioned in a recent survey in Europe and North America believe that their companies will be able to extract value in moving towards sustainability - but that most had made limited progress in translating that perception into concrete initiatives beyond the conventional. The launch of a group of share indexes claimed to be based on "the world's first systematic methodology for identifying sustainability-driven companies worldwide" may help to move the process along - but the methodology's focus on corporate policies and systems reflects the continuing difficulties of measuring companies by their performance.
