Waste minimisation faces cuts as Agency focuses on regulation

The Environment Agency is likely to switch resources away from waste minimisation in an effort to build its credibility as a waste regulator, the Agency's board heard on 15 December. The organisation is still defining how it can contribute to meeting EC targets for diverting wastes from landfill, but one suggestion at the meeting was that it should lobby for taxes to stimulate recycling.
