Packaging regime still faces crisis in 2001

Businesses obligated under the packaging regulations are likely to meet packaging recovery targets for both this year and next, leaving the market for packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs) flat for some months to come. But concern persists about whether the target for 2001 will be met, while next year's target for plastics recycling may also be out of reach. Meanwhile, the Environment Agency is facing renewed criticism from industry over the inaccuracy of packaging waste data.
