Thames Water fined £25,000 for massive sewage spill

Thames Water appeared before Croydon Crown Court on 10 December to plead guilty to causing polluting matter to enter the river Cray in Bexley. The incident occurred in September 1998 after vandals had entered a sewer chamber and blocked the flow of sewage. The blockage caused an overflow into the river and killed over 1,400 fish.
