Industry's last-ditch fight on IPPC site contamination rules

Industry is mounting a vigorous late attack on the Government's proposals for site clean-up under the integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) regime. Businesses claim that site surveys to establish existing contamination levels are too uncertain to act as a yardstick for future remediation - and are urging the Government to apply the less stringent clean-up standards of the forthcoming contaminated land regime.
