UK faces legal action over bathing waters

The UK is facing legal action in the European Court of Justice for a second time over its failure to comply with EC bathing water standards. More than 10% of UK waters failed to meet EC standards last year - 14 years past the deadline - and in October the European Commission initiated a procedure which may lead to prosecution.
