Environmental reporting grows amid wide variation in quality

An international survey by KPMG has found a "substantial increase" in firms reporting on their environmental performance. 1 But reporting is still a minority activity - and the quality of reports is highly variable. A separate study on environmental reporting by the oil industry has concluded that it remains "virtually impossible" for stakeholders to draw meaningful comparisons between firms. 2
