A partnership scheme giving small firms in north-west England access to free environmental advice from local universities has identified over £170,000 of annual savings from just nine participating companies. But the scheme's organisers complain that poor quality work and a lack of co-ordination are hindering other programmes aimed at greening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
