Ford, GM push ISO14001 down their supply chains

Auto giants Ford and General Motors have told their manufacturing suppliers - well over 10,000 businesses in all - to implement environmental management systems (EMSs) within the next 2 3 years. Ford is requiring external certification to ISO14001, but GM will accept supplier assurances that their systems are "in conformance" with the standard.
