Motor industry launches environmental label for cars

An environmental labelling scheme for new cars was launched in October with Government support. Under the scheme, devised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), cars will carry information on fuel consumption, carbon dioxide emissions and noise. However, the label will not include data on other pollutants such as particulates and nitrogen oxides.
