  • United Waste Services has been announced as the preferred partner by Kirklees Council for a 25-year contract worth over £170 million. The centrepiece of the contract is a £36 million waste-to-energy plant, due to start up in Huddersfield in 2002. It also involves composting, recycling and landfill.
