New solder opens door to lead-free electrical goods
The commercial arrival of lead-free electrical equipment moved closer in March when the telecommunications company GPT unveiled successful trials of a new solder. The development reinforces the European Commission's plans in a forthcoming Directive on waste electrical equipment to phase out heavy metals including lead.
