DETR proposes new-look council recycling strategies

English local authorities have been set a challenging target to prepare new "recycling strategies" by the end of the year. Guidance on the new strategies published by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) also calls on councils to consider the environmental costs and benefits of municipal waste practices and to gather better statistics.1
