Revival of EC noise policy begins with move on outdoor equipment

Proposals for a new Directive to regulate noise emissions from 55 types of outdoor equipment have been published by the European Commission. All products would have to be marked with their maximum sound power level, while noise limits would be set for a third. Aspects of the noise testing procedure are being resisted by industry, suggesting that negotiations may take some time.
