Industrial energy taxation moves onto business agenda

The Government's Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE) has accepted that taxation of industrial and commercial energy use may be needed to meet greenhouse gas emission targets.1 The report marks a thaw in industry's opposition to a carbon tax - although ACBE insists that larger energy users should be exempt.
