DTI tripped up again over offshore APE discharges

Reported discharges of alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APEs) by the offshore and oil gas industry reached their highest level in five years in 1997, according to a parliamentary answer by Industry Minister John Battle.1 The figures contradict a recent claim by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that it has no data on APE discharges.
