AEA Technology has been awarded a £315,000 contract by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions to measure levels of benzene around 20 petrol stations. The project will use diffusion tube monitoring techniques to assess whether petrol stations - particularly smaller sites without equipment to capture vapour from vehicle refuelling - pose a threat to compliance with the Government's air quality objectives.
