The Environmental Services Association is moving ahead with plans for a trust to fund waste management research. Using landfill tax credits, ESA member companies have so far contributed around £0.5 million towards a target of £1 million. The trust will probably pursue a broader range of projects than proposed in last year's scoping study which focused on landfill technology. The ESA is also hoping to use landfill tax credits to fund a new water and waste industry training organisation, WESTEP, which it has launched with Water UK.
