Sarp stung by fall-out from acid spills at Leigh waste plant
Much of the Killamarsh chemical waste site in north-east Derbyshire remained closed in late June following two separate accidents which sent clouds of acidic fumes over the neighbourhood in May. Citing a "credibility problem", the site's new French owners, Sarp UK, have agreed to introduce an off-site emergency plan ahead of the statutory timetable.
