Eco-labelling board axed as DETR seeks broader products policy
The Government has dropped the EC eco-labelling scheme as a central plank of its policy to minimise the environmental effects of consumer products, and is instead seeking "a more integrated approach". The UK Ecolabelling Board (UKEB) is to be abolished by the end of the year and the Department of the Environment (DETR) will take over administration. A strategy paper exploring "ways of stimulating a more sustainable market" will be issued later this summer.
