Slow progress towards renewables, CHP targets as energy use rises again

The UK economy's appetite for energy shows little sign of diminishing, with growing consumption offsetting the benefits of changes in the national fuel mix to keep the underlying trend in carbon dioxide emissions steady. Meanwhile, last year's additions of new combined heat and power and renewables capacity suggest that the previous Government's targets for both will be missed.
