Shoe makers get round VOC limits with clean technology

Britain's footwear manufacturers have avoided heavy investments to meet new limits on emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which came into force in June. Only one company is installing add-on abatement equipment - while the remainder are relying on a new generation of water-based adhesives to get them into compliance.
