Pipeway fined

Pipeway has been fined £8,000 for two offences of polluting a tributary of the river Blackwater with silt. The company was relining drinking water pipes in Aldershot last October when it pumped silty groundwater out of trenches and onto a road surface. The water entered a stream via the road drains. Pipeway pleaded guilty before Aldershot magistrates on 10 August and was fined £2,000 for the first offence and £6,000 for the second, with costs of £1,307.
