BP sets the ball rolling on CO<SUB>2</SUB> emissions trading

BP has taken a global lead by becoming the first business to get an internal greenhouse gas emission trading scheme up and running. The scheme will play a central role in helping the group meet an ambitious target to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 10% between 1990 and 2010. Shell is also developing a pilot trading scheme - though its target is more modest.
