The Government has approved plans for a combined heat and power plant at BP's Grangemouth site in Scotland. The plant, the first to receive approval since the Government published its energy White Paper in October (ENDS Report 285, pp 40-41 ), will be built by Finnish company IVO and Mitsubishi and is due to be commissioned by the end of 2000. It will have an installed capacity of 130MW.
