Scrubber fails to put a stop to Castle Cement odour problems

A new scrubber on one of the kilns at Castle Cement's controversial Ribblesdale site has failed to prevent a high level of complaints about plume grounding from the works. Breaches of Castle's authorisation look set to continue for at least three years - even though the Environment Agency has been advised to take a "tough enforcement line" by the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR).
