Verdict on safety of PVC leaves advertising watchdog open to criticism

The PVC and plastics industries have been rapped on the knuckles by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for making a misleading claim about the safety of phthalate additives in PVC products. But the ASA's reasoning in dismissing complaints about another three industry claims on the environmental impacts and recycling of PVC have left it wide open to criticism.
