Draft paper on endocrine disruptors strikes uneasy balance

Proposals to establish an EC priority list of potential endocrine-disrupting chemicals and identify critical uses of consumer products containing them for possible rapid emergency action feature in a draft European Commission working paper on endocrine disruptors. But the Commission's own analysis suggests that most existing EC legislation could not be used to take urgent action without amendment.
