Labour moves to assuage critics of its environmental policy

The Labour Party has attempted to alleviate mounting concern about the strength of its commitment to environmental protection by restating some of the promises made in its main environmental policy document three years ago. Most of the pledges have been made by junior shadow Ministers whose status in a future Labour government remains in doubt - but in January the shadow Foreign Secretary announced the establishment of a discussion forum with environmental organisations to advise on three major international environmental issues.
