Dioxin hotspot found near Huddersfield incinerator
Monitoring of dioxins in milk by the Ministry of Agriculture (MAFF) has uncovered elevated levels near to Huddersfield's municipal waste incinerator. The finding is an embarrassment for the Environment Agency and HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP), which allowed the plant to continue operating up to an EC deadline in December 1996 despite MAFF's concern over its high emissions.
