Tyne fish suffer sex-change effects
Researchers at Newcastle University have found that fish in the Tyne estuary are suffering oestrogenic effects - apparently as a result of compounds in sewage or industrial discharges. The finding is the first in wild UK fish - and poses a problem for the Environment Agency, which has no coherent policy on monitoring for endocrine disruptors.
