Birds Eye Wall's: Making ice cream with a new environmental flavour

The business benefits of waste minimisation have yet to be grasped by most British food companies. But Birds Eye Wall's ice cream factory in Gloucester, the first food processing site to be certified to the BS7750 and ISO14001 environmental management standards, is already saving £250,000 per year from an initial investment of £115,000. The success has prompted the company to instruct its other three British sites to seek certification to ISO14001.
