Whitehall go-slow on energy efficiency
Most Government Departments failed to meet a target to improve their energy efficiency by 15% over the past five years - and some even reduced their efficiency over the period, according to statistics released in a parliamentary answer by Environment Minister Robert Jones just before the Christmas recess. The target was almost met by the Government estate overall due to a major contribution from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) - but its efforts to save energy have been panned in a report from the National Audit Office (NAO).
