Environmental regulators face squeeze on charges

Concern that the cost-recovery charging schemes run by environmental regulators are bringing them insufficient income to cover their costs will have been stoked by proposals for next year's charges for waste businesses and companies regulated under local authority air pollution control (LAAPC). Fees paid by firms regulated under integrated pollution control (IPC) and radioactive substances legislation will also remain largely unchanged.
