Chemical company stalls on oestrogen discharges

Chemical manufacturer Akcros has failed to produce plans to render harmless discharges of oestrogenic chemicals from its Manchester site. The plans were required by the firm's integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisation, but Akcros has now asked the Environment Agency to allow discharges 125 times greater than originally specified.
