Feedstock recycling crucial to Valuplast's success

The UK will fail to recycle 15% of plastic packaging waste, and will thus fail to comply with the EC Directive on packaging, unless two feedstock recycling plants are up and running by 2001, according to the plastics packaging organisation Valuplast. Collections of domestic bottles, a waste stream crucial to Valuplast's plans to meet the target, are rising but huge increases will still be needed - just as improvements in PET bottle recycling across Europe are struggling to keep abreast of booming consumption.
